Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens inside your browser, on your own device. Your photos and PDFs are never sent to our server or to anyone else.

What size should my scholarship photo or document be?

Check the application page. It usually states a limit such as 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB or 1 MB. Choose the matching size above, or type the exact limit in the custom box.

Will compressing make my image blurry?

The tool keeps the highest quality that still fits your limit, so the smaller the limit, the more detail is lost. For very small limits it also reduces the image dimensions. If the result looks too soft, try a larger limit.

Why did my PNG turn into a JPG?

JPG files are much smaller than PNG for photos, which is what makes the size limits possible. Transparent areas in a PNG become white.

Can I compress a PDF and keep the text selectable?

Not with this tool. To shrink a PDF, each page is turned into an image, so the text can’t be selected or searched afterwards. It looks the same on screen and in print. If you need searchable text, keep the original as well.

My iPhone photo (HEIC) won’t open. What can I do?

Some browsers can’t read HEIC. Safari on iPhone and Mac usually can. Otherwise, on your iPhone open Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose “Most Compatible”, or share the photo as a JPG.

Why can’t the tool reach my exact size?

Very small limits on large, detailed images can be impossible to reach without making the picture unreadable. In that case the tool tells you it made the smallest file it could.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no sign-up.
